I calculated the carbon footprint of Celestia, you can have access to more data in here.
I think it could be a great idea to use Celestia’s community pool to compensate for its carbon footprint. What do you think about it?
The foundation would use the tokens to buy CO2 quotas. To begin with, maybe we could try to compensate only the validator set for one year.
We could create a task force in order to:
- Calculate the chain’s emissions with a more recent validator set.
- Write a report.
- Define a budget for the compensation.
- Prepare a blog post about it.
